Unfortunately, there are many obstacles that they must overcome after returning from deployment. One of my highest priorities is to remove those barriers and ensure that our men and women in uniform receive the care and attention they need. That is why I was a cosponsor of H.R. 1994, the VA Accountability Act, which passed the House on July 29, 2015 by a vote of 256 to 170. The House also passed H.R. 91, the Veteran’s Identification Card Act of 2015, which allows any veteran to receive an official government issued veteran I.D. card even if that veteran is not enrolled in VA healthcare. (VALENCIA, CA) –Rep. Steve Knight (CA-25) held a press conference on Tuesday to formally announce his recent introduction of a bill that would create a Memorial Site for the victims of the 1928 St. Francis Dam Disaster and designate parts of the San Gabriel Mountains as a federally protected wilderness area.  A crowd of about 50 gathered at Tesoro Adobe Historic Park in Valencia to hear the Congressman speak and answer questions about the legislation. Rep. Knight explained the importance of memorializing the victims of the tragedy and of creating the wilderness area, stating that there has been a longstanding effort in the community to do both.  “This legislation is long overdue,” said Knight in his speech. “The victims of the St. Francis Dam Disaster …

Congressional Recap  Last night the House of Representatives adjourned for August recess, meaning the first part of the legislative session is over. And despite all the odds, Congress was actually very productive. Over the next month I will devote a section of Knight Vision to give you an update of many accomplishments in the House of Representatives since January, and how they affect our communities. Putting America Back to Work A revitalized America means a revitalized economy, and making that a reality has been one of my top goals since becoming a Member of Congress.
