Regular meetings are held 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month (unless otherwise noted) at L.B. Mulligan's Restaurant, 25848 Tournament Road, Valencia

PRESIDENTS LETTER

On February 4th at the La Chen restaurant the Governing board and Slate of Officers of the Santa Clarita Valley California Congress for 2010 was installed.

In spite of inclement weather and slick roads the event was well attended. Representatives of the City, County, State and Federal government presented certificates of recognition to the outgoing officers and board members.

Hunt Brawley did an excellent job as our emcee and kept the evenings activities on schedule and with humor, what else would we expect from Hunt, is spite of the fact that he compared the incoming President to a “Mafia Don” but that’s not all bad. Senator Tony Strickland presided over the swearing in ceremony with style and grace, thank you Senator.

I personally want to thank Patty Kelly last year’s President for the outstanding job she did in bringing our organization back to life. Without her determination and guidance we may not have had an installation dinner this year. She built a strong foundation for us to build upon. Thank you Patty!

We have an excellent opportunity this year to move forward and correct the errors our state and federal government have created. Starting right here at the grass root level we must join together and support the candidates that can actually create CHANGE in policy.

I would recommend that we reach out to all of the various Republican groups in our area to create some sort of coalition to energize the voters. With the help of our officers our board and our membership we can be a strong voice in the coming elections.

My goal is to continue the good work that was started by the officers and Board members last year. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”! We need to increase our membership rolls and provide our members with opportunities to be engaged with our programs. To that end, we have some exciting events planned for the coming year. Make sure you sign on to our web sites and keep up with the activities.

Attendance at our meetings is important. To that end we are meeting the first Thursday of the Month at Mulligans restaurant in Valencia. It is centrally located and food and refreshments are available. Come by and say hello!
